Moving from R to MATLAB

I just started my PhD program, and I've been tasked with writing a GRANT proposal. I've created a lot of programs in both R and Matlab (and also for Java and Mathematica). I know both R and Matlab well and find the syntax and functionality relatively similar. I'm considering using Matlab for the project. My biggest concern is programming style and that I won't be able to easily transfer my R programming skills to Matlab. Is anyone in academia using Matlab in their research? How do you program in Matlab? Am I better off sticking with R? Thanks for any help.

Save and load values in a XAML object

I have a xaml class
public class MyObject
{
public readonly string propertyA;
public readonly string propertyB;
}

To populate a list of MyObjects, I'm calling MyObject.Parse, then using reflection to get the value of the properties, and add them to a BindingList.
All good so far -
MyObject is loaded dynamically from a XAML file, and the properties are read correctly by reflection.
Then, I need to save a copy of that object. To save the object, I have the following code

The problem is that the variables are null. If I debug I can clearly see that the objectToSave and copy have the same member variables, so why is the copy instance showing null values?

He cares deeply for people and is very concerned that his family and friends are treated fairly. He worries that if a marriage contract is not signed, he might be killed by his enemy. He is poor but is constantly generous. In fact, his father is frequently used as a shield to prevent his son from getting involved in things he does not want him to get involved in.
